18A- Customer Avatar

My customer is someone who thoroughly enjoys and appreciates music. Lots of them play music along with attending live concerts. They appreciate nature and love being outside. The age range is from around 20-35 years old. It is for people who take road trips and love taking on new adventures. People who can spend hours searching the internet for music until they find the song that feels right. It turns out I have a lot in common with the customer base. I spent lots of time searching for new music and save the songs that sit right with me. I also appreciate the outdoors and adventurous activities, along with fall under the age range. I feel like it is because you can only generate ideas from things ideas that are generated by emotion. I do not believe it was a coincidence that the customer base shares common qualities with me.  If I felt like the need is necessary then it does not surprise me that others who are similar to me also have the same need.

17A- Elevator Pitch No. 2

1.

2. I reviewed lots of constructive feedback after my first elevator pitch. Some people expressed that my pitch did not target a specific customer need. They said that it must need to reach out to a specific customer base.  Someone also mentioned that I should maybe make a platform specifically for small artists.

2. This time I changed a couple things. I specified my customer base and showed them the customer need that my opportunity is satisfying. I also got more into the logistics of how I was going to create the platform.

16A- secret sauce

1.

  • Can easily avoid conflict
  • Know how to relate to people
  • Very understanding
  • look at the bright side of all situations
  • enjoy talking to people
2.

Interview #1: What do you think makes me different?
  • You are very laid back and very difficult to make upset
This interview was with a very close friend of mine that lives one door down in our apartment building. I've known him since high school and he says I am the most laid back person he's ever met. I think that is a positive attribute because it is important to keep your composure when dealing with stressful situations.

Interview #2: What do you think makes me different?
  • You are somehow always in a good mood.
Staying positive is very important for a variety of reasons. Apart from it being beneficial for myself, I also believe that quality truly improves the people around you.

Interview #3: What do you think makes me different?
  • You know how to have a great time wherever you are.
My friend always tells me that we have the best times in the most random situations. No matter what the environment, you should always make the best of it.

3.
I chose some of my closest friends for these interviews. I spend almost all of my time with them and they know me extremely well. They know me pretty much just as well as I know myself, so they assessed me the same way I would. I do think other people who do not know me as well would assess me differently. Probably because I am not as close to them so I do not act the same way. I am more reserved and not as outgoing when I am not with my friends. I still possess the same qualities but they do not show as much. I the interviewees were accurate with their answers and I would not change anything from my initial list.

3) Reflect on the differences. How do you see yourself, and how do others see you? Are there differences in how you assess yourself compared to others? What do you think causes these differences? Do you think your interviewees are correct about you? Finally, going back to your list from part 1, would you make any corrections to the list? How?

14A halfway reflection

1. This in not your ordinary college course. You won't have tons of guidelines and specific instructions for each assignment. Just like the founder of Nike allowed his workers to do what they do, so will this class. It will give you the opportunity to formulate your own opinions and ideas. I think one of the most important qualities that will benefit you throughout this course is creativity. The ability to make connections that have never been made before. With broad guidelines, it is important to create innovative ideas.

2. There will be lots of time throughout this course where you are truly mentally tested. Even though it was one of the first assignments, the bug list, was probably most difficult for me. It seemed simple when I read the instructions, but coming up with twenty things that are flawed or bother you is not as easy as it sounds. I was able to do it by thinking of as many different aspects to my daily routine as possible. I think that along with other things throughout this class helped me develop a tenacious attitude. Pinpointing an opportunity and then scrutinizing each aspect of it definitely contributed to developing my tenacious attitude.

3.  First, I would recommend next semesters students to observe their surroundings and learn from their observations. People experience so much throughout the day and don't notice half of it. It is important to acknowledge and take lessons away from everything around you. I would also advise students to discuss their ideas with their friends and gain constructive feedback. Lastly, I would suggest for them to get their work done early in the week so it is done to their full potential and not rushed.

13A reading reflection

1. I read Shoe Dog by Phil Knight, the founder and former CEO of Nike. What surprised me most that he first formulated the idea for his company in a college entrepreneurship class. He knew that Japan manufactured high-quality shoes and wrote a paper about selling them in the western world. I admired how after he built up the company he always made sure to never restrict his employees. One of his biggest pieces of advice was to let the workers do what they do. I did not read anything that I did not admire. Phil had a great combination of work ethic and smarts. He did not experience many failures. He took a shot at an early age before he had anything to lose. That was another piece of advice he advocated.
2. Phil Knight really knew how to execute an idea. After learning about the shoe quality in Japan he called the CEO of a company and asked to help distribute his shoes in western locations. He was able to make those sales and then one he finished he went right into pursuing the next goal.
3. I was a bit confused about how he was able to start developing shoe designs for the Japanese company he sold shoes for. He went from selling shoes to designing commercial products.
4. The first thing I would ask him is what he thought the most important attribute was to becoming a successful businessman. He has communicated and met with some of the top officials in the world and I would be great to know what qualities he thinks are most important. I would also ask him how he did such a great jobbing creating a brand. Nike is such an iconic name and I would love to hear his input on how he made it into what it is today.
5. I think his opinion of hard work was to take chances and execute them. It is not necessarily how hard you but if you take chances and make sure the important things are done right then that is most important. I agree that it is important to go after big ideas and make sure they accomplished correctly.

11A – Idea Napkin No. 1
