12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

    • My product, which involves music streaming is targeting a behavioral segment. People who play and appreciate music fall under the behavior for my product.
    • These were some of the most helpful interviews that I've conducted throughout this course. I learned that one place people often realize that they experience this need is at bars. They hear a song and find out the name. When they go home to save it to their library, they can not find it because it is not offered. Another person I interviewed said that she hears lots of songs in stores at the mall and searched up the name of the song by googling the lyrics she hears. She has also had the issue that after she googles the name of the song it is unavailable when she goes to add it to her library. Another person told me he discovers new music at restaurants and has dealt with the same problem when trying to save the song. They also experienced the problem when a friend with one music streaming subscription shows them a song that is not offered by the service they have. All three of the people I interviewed dealt with the problem by googling the song. Many times the song is offered on youtube. They are able to listen to the song on youtube but cannot easily access it when working out or in their car.
    • I learned that Youtube has a wide range of accessible music. You can either listen to the music through the free videos or sign up for a subscription with YouTube Music. That is a service that can be incorporated with my platform and receive a commission through allowing access to their music.  People This segment all share an urge to discover new music. They all constantly searching and noticing new songs.

      Hey Bram,
Perhaps a good path to expose this opportunity would be to create a service that finds music not offered by both music streaming services? This way, your customers will first use your app/service to determine which music streaming outlet to use. While this would demand insane amounts of computer processing power and algorithm creation, you could at least serve to fix the root cause of your opportunity belief.

      Dear Bram,
I completely agree with whoever you interviewed about when they notice this need. I often find my self lost when I cannot find the name or even locate a song. This happens to me at bars, restaurants, and even nail salons. I always remember wishing that spotify, soundcloud, and apple music could be merged so that I could listen to remixes, originals, and more all on one app. Great job Bram, I think you have a great idea that can go very far.

      Hi Bram,
Your interviews turned up some really interesting ideas and facts about your opportunity. I haven't personally experienced any of the limitations experienced by your interviewees myself, but it seems like perhaps some sort of service or app that bundles different streaming services might be the way to meet this need. It would require minimal programming from developers and could possibly draw in numerous streaming services to participate with the possibility of tapping markets that currently utilize a different streaming service from their own.
